Dear Godwin Heights Middle School Family,

I want to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Aaron Berlin and I am the new building principal here at Godwin Heights Middle School. I have been part of the Godwin family for six years, and have spent the last five years working as the Assistant Principal at Godwin Heights High School.

I am eager to welcome everyone--all staff, students, and families--back for another exciting school year here at Godwin Heights Middle School. I know many students are enjoying the last few days of summer vacation, but I am excited for what the school year will bring.

As you folks can see, the middle school has been going through some major renovations.  We are getting brand new offices and a beautiful new front entrance to the building which will be off of Wexford St.  There will be some changes in student pick up and drop off.  Parents will continue to drop students off on Wexford St; however, we now have a dedicated bus loop on the east side of the building.  We believe that separating student busing from the parent drop off will help foster a safer environment for all of our Godiwn family. Finally, I want to thank all of our custodial staff for their hard work in having our building ready to go for the first day of school.

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 6th, and we are thrilled to see that so many of our families have already enrolled and are busy with back to school shopping. Due to all of the construction, we have postponed the school’s Open House that was originally scheduled for Tuesday, August 30th. Instead, our middle school’s Fall Family Night & Open House will be held on Tuesday, September 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  This will be a wonderful opportunity for families to come into the building, meet our wonderful staff, and see all of the building upgrades.

I believe every one of our students can be successful.  With that in mind, we are encouraging all of our families to commit to great attendance this year.  We believe that good attendance is the number one predictor of student success in the classroom.

Aaron Berlin
